Jacquie & Mike’s Trash the Dress

Jacquie & Mike got married last August in Newport During Hurricane Danny. We got some great shots but we were all very disapointed that we could not get any shots outside. We did go to a carousel in Fall River.

We decided to go to Newport to do a Trash the Dress Session. It rained the first day but we finally got the photos she wanted in Newport.

Tony & Pam a beautiful day at Highland Country Club. The weather was perfect. They were so easy to work with. Once I arrived at the house I knew we would have a fun day.

Trash the Dress!

How did I talk her into this?

I love “Trash the Dress”! We had so much at this shoot a few weeks ago. I know I am late putting these up but it is wedding season. Jessica and Justin got married last year and really did not get the type of photos they were looking for from their wedding photographer (not me!). She got dressed again and met me in an old mill complex that is not really in the best shape. Okay, it is gross but I love it. Now we did not trash the dress. I had a great assistant that make sure NOTHING happened to that dress. She had not dry cleaned the dress yet so we were good.

So cute!

I also brought Wedding Reels Video to capture the session. Click on their names to see the fabulous work.

Kelly

Kelly called me before I went to Alaska about doing a shoot at the Attleboro Train Station. She was looking for photos for her print advertising portfolio. The weather was perfect and the location was great. I have to admit it was a little scary when the Acela went by….that is one fast train!

Ann

On Saturday I went to photograph Ann and her family. Ann was diagnosed with breast cancer two years ago and she has been fighting ever since. In January she was given 6-9 months to live. On my way there I got a call saying she had really gone downhill but she still wanted to get a family portrait done.  This was not an easy session. She was very weak and in a lot of pain but she did a great job. We had some laughs and some tears but we were able to get some nice photos of her and her family.

On Sunday I photographed a future country music star! I have to say that this was the easiest shoot I have ever had. Her bubbly giggle made it so easy to capture just the right expression. The location was perfect (not telling…my new favorite place!) and the lighting was amazing. It was chilly but she didn’t complain at all. We were shooting the cover photo for her demo CD. Her name is Laura Whitaker and I bet she will be playing stadiums across the country!

Favorite Vendor of the week!

OK so I am a few days late but it was a busy weekend! My favorite vendor of the week is Highland Country Club. Highland was first founded in 1892 and has been listed as one of the first 100 clubs established in the U.S. It is a member only beautifully manicured 9 hole golf course located on Mechanic St. in Attleboro Ma. One of the reason it is one of my favorite vendors is Charlie Cote, Highland’s Wedding and Function Manager. Good service is very important to me and I need to make sure that I truly believe in a vendor before I recommend them to one of my brides. I am fully confidant in the service Charlie and his staff provide to their clients. They are only clients when they book then they become part of the Highland Family. I have quite a few weddings coming up at Highland in 2010 and 2011 and I know I will be well taken care of as well as my clients.

 Check them out on Facebook.

Favorite Vendor of the Week

I love flowers so I had to pick my favorite florist to be my second “Favorite Vendor of the Week”.  The Black Opal is located at 68 North Washington St  in Downtown North Attleboro. Owner Adam Sholes has a long history as a florist and it shows in his work.

So if you are getting married or need flowers for a prom, party or just because call Adam at 508-695-6956 or visit his website. Tell him Jen sent you!

Nathan & Lori

Okay so this is my first “Favorite Vendor of the Week” post. I am going to profile one of my favorite companies every Friday. My first is Wedding Reels Video The company is run by a husband and wife team – Nathan & Lori Suher.

I was fortunate to meet them through the Chamber of Commerce a few years ago and have enjoyed getting to know them and becoming great friends. We have done a few projects together including the 3 days I now call “Amypalozza”. They were kind enough to donate their time to film Amy Roloff’s visit to North Attleboro and Norton. I also dragged…..I mean asked Nathan to help with some mini-commercials for the Chamber.

I also got to meet the whole team on the day they hired me to take a few photos for their website.

Wedding Reels Video

Their work is great and I like that they are laid back and low-key when working. I have worked with tons of videographers that are really obnoxious and get in my way in the day of the wedding.

I really admire their commintment to the charities that they support. Lori is running her third Boston Marathon on Monday in support of the Liver Foundation. They donated 5% of their weddings on 2009 to support her effort.

If you need a great team to capture your wedding day…give them a call.

Weekend adventure

Derek and I decided to take a day off and take a hike. I stopped by Blackstone Valley Outfitters in Lincoln, RI and signed up for their Rome Point guided hike. I was very excited to see the seals! The hike was about 2.5 miles and included old cart paths and a walk on the beach that was covered in shells.

I took a few photos so I thought I would share. I am not really into creepy things but we had a great time.

Anytime we are near Wickford Village I have to go and walk around. We had a great lunch on an outside terrace and hit the stores. I wonder how many weddings I would need to book to buy my favorite house on the water???
